ত্রয়োদশ জাতীয় সংসদের প্রথম অধিবেশনে রাষ্ট্রপতি মো. সাহাবুদ্দিন ভাষণ দেওয়ার সময় বিরোধী দল জামায়াতে ইসলামী, জাতীয় নাগরিক পার্টি (এনসিপি)সহ ১১ দলীয় নির্বাচনি জোটের সংসদ সদস্যরা ‘ওয়াক আউট’ করেছেন।
বৃহস্পতিবার (১২ মার্চ) সংবিধান অনুযায়ী নতুন সংসদের প্রথম অধিবেশনে রাষ্ট্রপতি সংসদ কক্ষে প্রবেশ করলে ১১ দলীয় জোটের সংসদ সদস্যরা দাঁড়িয়ে প্ল্যাকার্ড দেখিয়ে প্রতিবাদ ও বিক্ষোভ শুরু করেন। স্পিকার মেজর (অব.) হাফিজ উদ্দিন আহমদ বীর বিক্রম তাদের শান্ত করার চেষ্টা করেন।
রাষ্টপতির ভাষণ শুরু হলে জামায়াত ও এনসিপির সদস্যরা বিভিন্ন স্লোগান দিতে দিতে সংসদ কক্ষ ত্যাগ করেন। এসময় তারা ‘ভারতের দালালেরা হুঁশিয়ার সাবধান’সহ নানা স্লোগান দেন।
উল্লেখ্য, জামায়াত নেতৃত্বাধীন এই বিরোধী জোট আগে থেকেই রাষ্ট্রপতি মো. সাহাবুদ্দিনের ভাষণ দেওয়ার বিষয়ে আপত্তি জানিয়েছিল। সংসদে কোনো বিষয়ে প্রতিবাদ জানাতে বিরোধী দল বা কোনো সদস্য ইচ্ছাকৃতভাবে কক্ষ ত্যাগ করলে তাকে ‘ওয়াক আউট’ বলা হয়। বাংলাদেশে বিরোধী দল বিভিন্ন সময় সরকারের নীতির প্রতিবাদে এই পদ্ধতি অবলম্বন করেছে।
