বিএনপি চেয়ারম্যান ও প্রধানমন্ত্রী তারেক রহমানের ছেড়ে দেওয়া বগুড়া-৬ আসনে উপনির্বাচনের জন্য দলের প্রার্থী হিসেবে মনোনয়ন পেয়েছেন জেলা বিএনপির সভাপতি রেজাউল করিম বাদশা।
বৃহস্পতিবার (২৬ ফেব্রুয়ারি) বিএনপির মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম স্বাক্ষরিত এক চিঠিতে তাকে মনোনয়ন দেওয়ার বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেন বিএনপির মিডিয়া সেলের সদস্য শায়রুল কবির খান।
শায়রুল কবির খান জানান, বিএনপি চেয়ারম্যানের ছেড়ে দেওয়া বগুড়া-৬ আসনের উপনির্বাচনে দলের পক্ষ থেকে বগুড়া জেলা বিএনপির সভাপতি রেজাউল করিম বাদশাকে মনোনয়ন দেওয়া হয়েছে।
এর আগে, গত ১২ ফেব্রুয়ারি অনুষ্ঠিত ত্রয়োদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে তারেক রহমান ঢাকা-১৭ ও বগুড়া-৬ আসন থেকে নির্বাচন করে জয়ী হন।
আইন অনুযায়ী একজন ব্যক্তি সর্বোচ্চ তিনটি আসনে নির্বাচন করতে পারলেও সংসদ সদস্য থাকতে পারেন একটি আসন থেকে। সেই বিধান অনুসারে তিনি ঢাকা-১৭ আসন রেখে বগুড়া-৬ আসনটি ছেড়ে দেন।
