স্পোর্টস ডেস্ক : নারীদের অনূর্ধ্ব-১৯ ক্রিকেট বিশ্বকাপ আয়োজন করবে বাংলাদেশ। যে আসর মাঠে গড়ানোর কথা ছিল চলতি জানুয়ারিতে।
বাংলাদেশে আসর আয়োজনের বিষয়টি সংবাদমাধ্যমকে এমনটা নিশ্চিত করেছেন বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বর্ডের (বিসিবি) উইমেন্স উইং এর চেয়ারম্যান শফিউল আলম চৌধুরী নাদেল।
প্রথমবারের মতো অনুষ্ঠিত হতে যাওয়া নারীদের এই বয়সভিত্তিক টুর্নামেন্টের আয়োজক ছিল বাংলাদেশ। কিন্তু করোনা মহামারীর কারণে তা স্থগিত হয়ে যায়। তবে এ বছরই বাংলাদেশে বসবে আসরটি।
এ বছরের ডিসেম্বরে বিশ্বকাপটি মাঠে গড়াবে বলে নিশ্চিত করেন নাদেল। গতকাল মিরপুর শেরে বাংলা জাতীয় ক্রিকেট স্টেডিয়াম সাংবাদিকদের তিনি বলেন, আপনারা জানেন যে আমরা আইসিসির আয়োজক হতে যাচ্ছি। যা এ বছরের জানুয়ারিতে হবার কথা ছিল। কিন্তু করোনা মহামারীর কারণে হয়নি। এই বছরের শেষের দিকে ডিসেম্বরে সেটা বাংলাদেশেই অনুষ্ঠিত হবে।
নারীদের অনূর্ধ্ব-১৯ বিশ্বকাপকে সামনে রেখে ইতোমধ্যেই সারাদেশের বিভাগীয় কোচদের মাধ্যমে প্রতিভাবান ক্রিকেটার বাছাই প্রক্রিয়া শুরু করেছে বিসিবি উইমেন্স উইং। তাদের সাথে সহযোগিতায় থাকছে গেম ডেভলপমেন্ট বিভাগ।
টাইগ্রেস দল বাছাইয়ের প্রক্রিয়ার ব্যাপারে নাদেল বলেন, আমাদের আগে থেকেই কিছু পরিকল্পনা ছিল। আমরা আমাদের মেয়েদের বয়স ভিত্তিক পর্যায়ে কিছু টুর্নামেন্ট আয়োজন করে আমাদের পাইপলাইনকে আরও বেশি শক্ত করব।
