ওয়াশিংটনের আরোপিত নিষেধাজ্ঞার জবাবে এবার যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের সাবেক প্রেসিডেন্ট বারাক ওবামাসহ পাঁচশ নাগরিকের ওপর নিষেধাজ্ঞা দিল রাশিয়া। নিষেধাজ্ঞার আওতায় আসা ব্যক্তিরা রাশিয়ায় প্রবেশ করতে পারবেন না।
রাশিয়ার পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয় শুক্রবার এক বিবৃতিতে বলেছে, মস্কোর বিরুদ্ধে একের পর এক নিষেধাজ্ঞা দিয়ে যাচ্ছে জো বাইডেন প্রশাসন। এর প্রতিক্রিয়ায় পাঁচ শ মার্কিন নাগরিকের ওপর ভ্রমণ নিষেধাজ্ঞা আরোপ করা হয়েছে।
তালিকায় বারাক ওবামা ছাড়াও আরও আছেন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের জনপ্রিয় টিভি উপস্থাপক স্টিফেন কোলবার্ট, জিমি কিমেল এবং শেথ মেয়ার্স, সিএনএনের উপস্থাপক ইরিন বুরনেট, উপস্থাপক র্যাচেল ম্যাডো, কয়েকজন সিনেটর, কংগ্রেসম্যান ও বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিরা।
রাশিয়া ইউক্রেনে হামলা শুরুর পর থেকে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র ও তার পশ্চিমা মিত্ররা মস্কোর বিরুদ্ধে একের পর এক নিষেধাজ্ঞা জারি করে আসছে। সর্বশেষ শুক্রবার যুক্তরাষ্ট্র শতাধিক রুশ ব্যক্তি ও প্রতিষ্ঠানের বিরুদ্ধে নতুন নিষেধাজ্ঞা আরোপের কথা জানিয়েছে। এর পরই রাশিয়া পাঁচশ নাগরিকের ওপর নিষেধাজ্ঞার এ পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে।
রুশ পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের ওই বিবৃতিতে আরও বলা হয়েছে, ওয়াশিংটনের অনেক আগেই জানা উচিত ছিল যে একটি শত্রুতামূলক পদক্ষেপও বিনা উত্তরে ছেড়ে দেয়া হবে না।
