ইতালির উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চলে ভয়াবহ বন্যায় ৩৬ হাজারের বেশি লোক তাদের বাড়িঘর ছেড়ে যেতে বাধ্য হয়েছে। আঞ্চলিক কর্মকর্তারা শনিবার এ কথা জানান।
চলতি সপ্তাহে প্রবল বর্ষণে ১৪ জন মারা গেছে। এমিলা রোমাগনা অঞ্চলের নগর ও শহরের রাস্তাঘাট পানিতে তলিয়ে নদীতে রূপ নিয়েছে।
আরও বৃষ্টি হওয়ার প্রেক্ষাপটে কর্তৃপক্ষ আবহাওয়ার রেড এলার্ট রবিবার পর্যন্ত বাড়িয়েছে।
ইতালির প্রধানমন্ত্রী জর্জিয়া মেলোনি শনিবার বলেছেন, ইতালির জরুরি অবস্থা মোকাবেলায় তিনি জাপানের জি ৭ শীর্ষ সম্মেলন থেকে চলে যাচ্ছেন।
সাংবাদিকদের তিনি বলেন, জটিল এই মুহূর্তে ইতালি থেকে আমি দূরে থাকতে পারছি না।
রবিবার তার বন্যায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত এলাকা পরিদর্শনে যাওয়ার কথা রয়েছে।
এমিলা রোমাগনা অঞ্চলে গত ৩৬ ঘণ্টায় ছয়মাসের সমান বৃষ্টি হয়েছে। বর্তমানের বন্যাকে গত এক শতাব্দীর মধ্যে সবচেয়ে ভয়াবহ বলে বর্ণনা করা হয়েছে।
বন্যার কারনে ৩০৫টি ভূমিধস এবং ৫০০টিরও বেশি সড়ক বন্ধ হয়ে গেছে।
এসব সড়ক মেরামতে কয়েকমাস কিংবা বছরও লেগে যেতে পারে বলে বলোগনার মেয়র মাত্তিও লিপোর উল্লেখ করেন।
