মিড-ডে মিল মানসম্মত প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা নিশ্চিত করবে বলে জানিয়েছেন প্রাথমিক ও গণশিক্ষা প্রতিমন্ত্রী মো. জাকির হোসেন।
বৃহস্পতিবার ঢাকার দোহার ও ফরিদপুরের সদরপুর উপজেলার নারকেলবাড়িয়ার বিভিন্ন স্কুল পরিদর্শনকালে এ কথা বলেন তিনি।
আগামী জুলাই থেকে সরকারি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়সমূহে মিড-ডে মিল কর্মসূচি পুণরায় চালু করতে যাচ্ছে সরকার এমন তথ্যের পুনর্ব্যক্ত করে গণশিক্ষা প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন, এর মাধ্যমে শিক্ষার্থীদের ঝড়ে পড়া রোধ, শিশুদের পুষ্টি ঘাটতি পূরণ, বিদ্যালয়ে শতভাগ ভর্তি, নিয়মিত বিদ্যালয়ে উপস্থিতির মাধ্যমে শিখন ঘাটতি রোধ করে মানসম্মত প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা নিশ্চিতে বড় ধরণের অগ্রগতি সাধিত হবে।
এ সময় উপস্থিত শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী ও অভিভাবকদের সঙ্গে আলোচনাকালে প্রতিমন্ত্রী স্কুলগুলোর অবকাঠামোগত সমস্যা সমাধান ও দ্রুততম সময়ের মধ্যে ওয়াসব্লক নির্মাণের প্রতিশ্রুতি ব্যক্ত করেন এবং পদ্মাবেষ্টিত নারকেলবাড়িয়ায় শিক্ষকদের ডরমিটরি নির্মাণেরও আশ্বাস দেন।
এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন, প্রতিমন্ত্রীর একান্ত সচিব মো. মিকাইল, দোহার উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার মোবাশ্বের আলম, সদরপুর উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার আহসান মাসুদ রাসেল, নারকেলবাড়িয়া ইউপি চেয়ারম্যান নাসিরউদ্দিন সর্দার প্রমুখ।
