কক্সবাজারের চকরিয়ায় নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে একটি মাইক্রোবাস পুকুরে পড়ে সাতজন নিহত হয়েছেন। আহত হয়েছেন আরও কয়েকজন।
রবিবার সকাল ১০টার দিকে কক্সবাজার-চট্টগ্রাম মহাসড়কের চকরিয়া পৌরসভার কমিশনারপাড়া এলাকায় এই দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে।
নিহতদের মধ্যে ছয়জনের নামপরিচয় জানা গেছে। তারা হলেন চকরিয়ার ইসমাইল হোসেনের স্ত্রী হাজেরা বেগম, কক্সবাজারের কোনাপাড়া এলাকার প্রদীপের স্ত্রী পূর্ণিমা, তার চার বছরের ছেলে স্বার্থক, চকরিয়ার রাম মাস্টারের ছেলে রতন বিজয়, তার স্ত্রী মধুমিতা এবং কক্সবাজারের কোনাপাড়ার মৃত সঙ্করের স্ত্রী রানি রুদ্র। মারা যাওয়া বাকি এক নারীর নামপরিচয় জানা যায়নি। এছাড়া আহতদের নামপরিচয় জানা যায়নি।
প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীদের বরাত দিয়ে চকরিয়া থানার উপপরিদর্শক (এসআই) মোশাররফ হোসেন জানান, চট্টগ্রামমুখী মাইক্রোবাসটি কক্সবাজার-চট্টগ্রাম মহাসড়কের ওই এলাকায় পৌঁছার পর চালক নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারান। একে সড়কের পাশে একটি বৈদ্যুতিক খুঁটিতে ধাক্কা লাগে মাইক্রোবাসটি পাশের পুকুরে পড়ে যায়। আশপাশের লোকজন গাড়িটি টেনে তোলার চেষ্টা করেন। পরে খবর পেয়ে পুলিশ ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে উদ্ধার তৎপরতা চালায়।
দুর্ঘটনায় ঘটনাস্থলেই পাঁচজন মারা যান। এছাড়া হাসপাতালে নেওয়ার পথে মারা যান দুই শিশু। আহতদের উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে।
