চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জের শিবগঞ্জ উপজেলায় পদ্মা নদীতে বরযাত্রীবাহী একটি নৌকায় বজ্রপাতে ১৬ জনের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। ঝলসে গেছেন আরও কয়েকজন।
বুধবার দুপুর সাড়ে ১২টার দিকে এই ঘটনা ঘটে বলে জানিয়েছেন শিবগঞ্জ উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা সাকিব-আল-রাব্বি।
জানা গেছে, সকালে চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ থেকে বরযাত্রী নিয়ে শিবগঞ্জের দক্ষিণ পাকার উদ্দেশে একটি নৌকা ছেড়ে যায়। সাড়ে ১২টার দিকে নৌকাটি শিবগঞ্জের প্রায় কাছাকাছি পৌঁছলে বজ্রপাতের ঘটনা ঘটে। এতে নৌকাটি ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয় এবং সেখানে থাকা ১৬ জনের মৃত্যু হয়। আহত হয় বেশ কয়েকজন। তাদের উদ্ধার করে উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে।
তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে হতাহত ব্যক্তিদের নাম-পরিচয় জানা যায়নি। আহত ব্যক্তিদের সঠিক সংখ্যা জানা যায়নি। মৃতদের মধ্যে ১৫ জনই চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ সদরের নারায়ণপুর এলাকার বাসিন্দা। তাদের মধ্যে পাঁচজন নারী। মৃতের সংখ্যা আরও বাড়তে পারে বলে আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে।
এই খবর ছড়িয়ে পড়লে ওই এলাকায় শোকের ছায়া নেমে এসেছে।
