টেনিস কোর্টে আর দেখা যাবে না সুইস তারকা রজার ফেদেরারকে। টেনিস থেকে বিদায় নিলেন এই কিংবদন্তি টেনিস তারকা। সামাজিক যোগাযোগ যোগাযোগ মাধ্যম ইনস্টাগ্রামে লেভার কাপ নিজের শেষ টেনিস টুর্নামেন্ট বলে জানিয়েছেন ফেদেরার।
ফেদেরার বলেন, ‘শেষ তিন বছর আমাকে বেশ চ্যালেঞ্জের মুখে পড়তে হয়েছে। ইনজুরির মধ্যেই কাটাতে হয়েছে পুরো সময়। আমি আমার শরীরের ক্ষমতা আর সীমাবদ্ধতা জানি। আর এটা আমাকে যা জানাতে চাচ্ছে, সেটা পরিষ্কার।’
তিনি আরও বলেন , ‘আমার বয়স ৪১ বছর। ২৪ বছরের টেনিস ক্যারিয়ারে আমি প্রায় ১৫০০ ম্যাচ খেলেছি। এখন সময় এসেছে অবসরে যাওয়ার।’
উল্লেখ্য, টেনিস ক্যারিয়ারে মোট ২০ বার গ্র্যান্ড স্ল্যাম জিততে সক্ষম হয়েছেন। সবচেয়ে বেশিবার চ্যাম্পিয়ন হয়েছে উইম্বলডন ওপেনে। এখানে জিতেছেন মোট আটটি শিরোপা। এছাড়া অস্ট্রেলিয়ান ওপেনে ছয়বার, ইউএস ওপেনে চারবার ও ফ্রেঞ্চ ওপেনে একবার চ্যাম্পিয়ন হওয়ার যোগ্যতা অর্জন করেন।
