রাজনৈতিক ও অর্থনৈতিকভাবে নজিরবিহীন সংকটের সঙ্গে লড়াই করছে শ্রীলঙ্কা। দীর্ঘদিন ধরে ক্ষমতায় থাকা রাজাপক্ষে পরিবারের করুণ পরিণতি ঘটেছে। জাতিগত পার্থক্য আর ধর্মমত ভুলে সরকার পতনের দাবিতে রাস্তায় লঙ্কাবাসী। পালিয়ে গিয়ে বাধ্য হয়ে পদত্যাগ করেছেন প্রেসিডেন্ট গোতাবায়া। দেশটিতে খাবার নেই, জ্বালানি তেল নেই। বিদেশ থেকে প্রয়োজনীয় পণ্য আমদানির মতো অর্থও নেই।
শ্রীলঙ্কার মতো প্রায় এক ডজন দেশ এখন খাদের কিনারায় এসে দাঁড়িয়েছে বলে রয়টার্সের এক প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়েছে। দেশগুলোর বৈদেশিক ঋণ, মুদ্রাস্ফীতি এমন পর্যায়ে পৌঁছেছে, ভবিষ্যতের জন্য চরম বিপদের ইঙ্গিত দিচ্ছে তা। ওইসব দেশের তালিকায় রয়েছে পাকিস্তানও। এছাড়াও রয়েছে আর্জেন্টিনা, ইউক্রেন, মিশর, কেনিয়া, ইথিওপিয়া, এল সালভাদর, ইকুয়েডর, বেলারুশ, নাইজেরিয়া।
সমীক্ষায় পাকিস্তানকে নিয়ে বলা হয়েছে, সম্প্রতি রেকর্ড পরিমাণে অবনমন হয়েছে পাকিস্তানি মুদ্রার। দেশটির তেল আমদানির বোঝা এতটাই বেড়েছে যে বৈদেশিক মুদ্রার রিজার্ভও তলানিতে গিয়ে ঠেকেছে। আগামী পাঁচ সপ্তাহ পর্যন্ত আমদানি চালিয়ে যেতে পারবে ইসলামাবাদ।
পাকিস্তানের রাজস্ব আয়ের ৪০ শতাংশ খরচ হয় ঋণের সুদ দিতে।
যুদ্ধবিধ্বস্ত ইউক্রেনের অর্থনৈতিক সঙ্কটের কথাও তুলে ধরা হয়েছে রিপোর্টে। আরও বলা হয়েছে, রাশিয়ার পাশে থাকা বেলারুশকেও পশ্চিমি দুনিয়ার বিষ নজরে পড়তে হবে।
