করোনা মহামারিতে ভয়াবহ নেতিবাচক প্রভাব পড়েছে দেশের রপ্তানিমুখী তৈরি পোশাক (গার্মেন্ট) শিল্পে। ১৫ মাস ধরে ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য বাধাগ্রস্ত হওয়ায় এ খাতে প্রায় ৪০১ কোটি ৫০ লাখ ডলারের বেশি রপ্তানির আদেশ বাতিল হয়েছে। এমন পরিস্থিতিতে আগামী রোববার (১ আগস্ট) থেকে রপ্তানিমুখী সব শিল্পকারখানা খুলে দেওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে সরকার।
শুক্রবার মন্ত্রিপরিষদ বিভাগের উপসচিব মো. রেজাউল ইসলাম স্বাক্ষরিত এক প্রজ্ঞাপনে এ তথ্য জানানো হয়েছে।
প্রজ্ঞাপনে বলা হয়, সার্বিক পরিস্থিতি বিবেচনায় ১ আগস্ট সকাল ৬টা থেকে রপ্তানিমুখী সব শিল্পকারখানা বিধিনিষেধের আওতা বহির্ভূত রাখা হলো।
গেল বৃহস্পতিবার (২৯ জুলাই) সচিবালয়ে মন্ত্রিপরিষদ সচিব খন্দকার আনোয়ারুল ইসলামের সঙ্গে এক বৈঠকে চলমান সর্বাত্মক লকডাউনের মধ্যেই পোশাক শিল্পসহ সব ধরনের কারখানা খুলে দিতে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার কাছে অনুরোধ জানান বিজিএমইএ, বিকেএমইএ, বিটিএমইএ, ঢাকা চেম্বার ও এফবিসিসিআইয়ের নেতারা।
তারা বলেছেন, আন্তর্জাতিক বাজার হারানোর শঙ্কা, সাপ্লাই চেইন ভেঙে পড়া, বন্দরে জট, সার্বিক অর্থনীতিসহ সবকিছু বিবেচনা নিয়েই তারা এ অনুরোধ জানাতে বাধ্য হয়েছেন।
