কক্সবাজারের উখিয়া উপজেলায় রোহিঙ্গা শরণার্থী শিবিরে পাহাড় ধসে অন্তত পাঁচ রোহিঙ্গা শরণার্থীসহ ছয়জনের মৃত্যু হয়েছ। এ ঘটনায় আহত হয়েছেন চারজন।
মঙ্গলবার দুপুরে উখিয়ার বালুখালী ১০ নম্বর ক্যাম্পে এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে।
১৬ আর্মড পুলিশ ব্যাটালিয়নের এসপি তারিকুল ইসলাম জানান, পাহাড় ধসে বালুখালী ক্যাম্প-১০ এর জি-৩৭ ব্লকের শাহ আলমের স্ত্রী দিল বাহার (৪২), তার শিশু সন্তান শফিউল আলম (৯), জি-৩৮ ব্লকের মোহাম্মদ ইউসূফের স্ত্রী গুল বাহার (২৫), তার আড়াই মাসের শিশু সন্তান আব্দুর রহমান ও কন্যা আয়েশা সিদ্দীকার (১) মৃত্যু হয়েছে।
পালংখালি ইউপি চেয়ারম্যান এম গফুর উদ্দিন চৌধুরী পাঁচজনের মৃত্যুর তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি বলেন, অতিবৃষ্টির কারণে পাহাড় ধস হয়েছে। এতে পাঁচ রোহিঙ্গা শরণার্থীর মৃত্যু হয়েছে। অপর এক শিশু ঘটনার সময় পানিতে ডুবে মারা গেছেন বলে জানান তিনি।
গফুর উদ্দিন চৌধুরী জানান, গত তিন দিন ধরে উখিয়ায় অতিবৃষ্টি হচ্ছে। বৃষ্টিপাত এভাবে চলতে থাকলে আরও ছোট ছোট টিলা ধসে পড়ার শঙ্কা রয়েছে।
