প্রধানমন্ত্রীর পদ থেকে বিদায় নিয়েও সরকারি বাসভবন ছাড়তে অস্বীকৃতি জানিয়েছেন ইসরাইলের রক্ষণশীল রাজনৈতিক দল লিকুদ পার্টির প্রধান বেনিয়ামিন নেতানিয়াহু। তিনি এখনও পরিবার নিয়ে পশ্চিম জেরুজালেমের বেলফোর রোডে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সরকারি বাসভবনে আছেন বলে টাইমস অব ইসরাইলের খবরে বলা হয়েছে।
এক প্রতিবেদনে ইসরাইলের দৈনিকটি বলেছে, প্রধানমন্ত্রীর ক্ষমতা হারানোর এক সপ্তাহ পার হলেও নেতানিয়াহু এখনও আগের মতো প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সরকারি বাসভবন ব্যবহার করছেন। যদিও তিনি ওই ভবনে থাকলেও দলীয় কোনও বৈঠকে সেটি ব্যবহার করবেন না বলে নতুন প্রধানমন্ত্রী উগ্রপন্থী নাফতালি বেনেটের সঙ্গে সমঝোতার সময় সম্মতি দিয়েছিলেন।
এদিকে ইসরাইলের নতুন প্রধানমন্ত্রী বেনেট দুই সপ্তাহের মধ্যে সরকারি বাসভবন ছেড়ে দিতে নেতানিয়াহুকে আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন। তবে শনিবার বেনেটের সঙ্গে এক সমঝোতার পরে আগামী ১০ জুলাইয়ের মধ্যে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর বাসভবন ছাড়বেন বলে জানান নেতানিয়াহু।
২০০৯ সালে ইসরাইলের প্রধানমন্ত্রীর দায়িত্ব নেওয়ার পর থেকে পশ্চিম জেরুজালেমের সরকারি ওই বাসভবনে পরিবার নিয়ে আছেন নেতানিয়াহু। সম্প্রতি নির্বাচনে তার দল সংখ্যাগরিষ্টতা না পাওয়ায় তিনি মধ্যপ্রাচ্যের দখলদার দেশটির প্রধানমন্ত্রী পদ হারান। গত সপ্তাহে নতুন সরকার গঠন করেন বেনেট। আর এক যুগ শাসনের পর বিরোধী দলের আসনে ঠাঁই হয়েছে নেতানিয়াহুর।
