ইয়েমেনের একটি নদীতে অভিবাসীবাহী একটি নৌকা ডুবে ২৫ জনের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। নিখোঁজ রয়েছেন শতাধিক অভিবাসীপ্রত্যাশী।
গত দুই দিন আগের ওই ঘটনায় ২৫ মরদেহ উদ্ধার করেছে দেশটির কোস্টগার্ড সদস্যরা। দেশটির একটি প্রাদেশিক কর্মকর্তা এই তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন। খবর এএফপির।
বার্তা সংস্থাটির খবরে বলা হয়েছে, ধারণা করা হচ্ছে প্রায় ২০০ জন লোক বহন করা হয়েছে নৌকাটিতে।
সোমবার লাহিজ প্রাদেশিক কর্তৃপক্ষের জলিল আহমেদ আলী বলেন, দুই দিন আগে নৌকাটি উল্টে যায়। সেখানে ১৬০ থেকে ২০০ জনের মতো যাত্রী ছিল।
দক্ষিণ ইয়েমেনের জেলেরা জানিয়েছেন, তারা আফ্রিকার বংশোদ্ভূত বলে ধারনা করা হচ্ছে। ২৫ জনের লাশ উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে। যারা অনেকে উপসাগরীয় রাষ্ট্রে যাওয়ার আগে ইয়েমেনে পৌঁছানোর চেষ্টা করেছিল।
জেলেরা জানিয়েছেন, লাশগুলি দক্ষিণ প্রদেশের লাহিজ প্রদেশের রাস আল-আরা অঞ্চলে জিবুতিতে উপকূলে বাব-আল-মান্দেব পনিতে ভাসছিল।
সাম্প্রতিক মাসগুলোতে জিবুতিকে ইয়েমেন থেকে পৃথককারী বাব এল-মান্দেব স্ট্রেইটে কয়েক ডজন অভিবাসী মারা গিয়েছে, যা আন্তর্জাতিক পাচারকারীদের জন্য প্রধান অঞ্চল ও মানবপাচারেরও প্রধান পথ।
