বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন খালেদা জিয়ার কিডনি ও হার্টের সমস্যা নিয়ে তার চিকিৎসকরা উদ্বিগ্ন বলে জানিয়েছেন বিএনপি মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর। তিনি বলেন, দলের চেয়ারপারসন খালেদা জিয়া পোস্ট কোভিড পজিশন থেকে ভালো আছেন। তবে তার হার্ট ও কিডনির সমস্যা আছে। বাংলাদেশে এ সমস্যাগুলোর চিকিৎসা সম্ভব নয়। তার দেশের বাইরে উন্নত চিকিৎসা প্রয়োজন।
রাজধানীর গুলশানে বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন খালেদা জিয়ার রাজনৈতিক কার্যালয়ে শুক্রবার সকালে সংবাদ সম্মেলনে তিনি এ কথা বলেন।
মির্জা ফখরুল অবিলম্বে খালেদা জিয়া, নিপুণ রায়চৌধুরী, আসলাম চৌধুরীসহ দলের ও বিরোধী মতের নেতাকর্মীদের অবিলম্বে মুক্তি দাবি করেন। তিনি বলেন, আমি সরকারকে বলব—মানুষকে শান্তিতে থাকতে দিন, মানুষকে বেঁচে থাকতে দিন। ইতিহাস কাউকে ক্ষমা করে না। ফেরাউন, নমরুদ, হিটলার, মুসোলিনি—কেউ বাঁচতে পারেনি, এটি ইতিহাস।’
