বাংলা নববর্ষ ১৪২৮ উপলক্ষে আজ সন্ধ্যায় জাতির উদ্দেশে ভাষণ দেবেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। নববর্ষের আগের দিন মঙ্গলবার সোয়া সাতটায় ভাষণ দেবেন সরকারপ্রধান।

বাংলাদেশ বেতার ও বাংলাদেশ টেলিভিশন প্রধানমন্ত্রীর ভাষণ সরাসরি সম্প্রচার করবে। বেসরকারি টিভি চ্যানেল ও রেডিওগুলোও প্রধানমন্ত্রীর ভাষণ সম্প্রচার করবে।
বুধবার বাংলা ক্যালেন্ডারের নতুন বছর-বঙ্গাব্দ ১৪২৮ শুরু হচ্ছে এমন এক পরিস্থিতিতে, যখন দেশে করোনাভাইরাসের সংক্রমণ ভয়াবহ আকার ধারণ করেছে। ভাইরাসটি রোধে দেশের মানুষকে এক সপ্তাহের বেশি সময় ধরে বিধিনিষেধের মধ্যে সময় কাটাতে হচ্ছে।
নতুন বছরে পুরোনো সব জীর্ণতা মুছে যাবে- এই প্রত্যাশা নিয়ে প্রতিবছর নানা আয়োজনে বৈশাখের প্রথম দিনটি উদযাপন করে বাংলাদেশের মানুষ। বর্ষবরণের এ আয়োজনই বাঙালির সবচেয়ে বড় উৎসব। কিন্তু করোনাভাইরাসের কারণে গতবারও সীমিত পরিসরে অনেকটা ঘরবন্দিভাবে নববর্ষ উদযাপন করা হয়েছিল। এবার করোনাভাইরাসের আরও ভয়াবহ আকার ধারণ করায় নববর্ষের সব ধরনের অনুষ্ঠান স্থগিত করা হয়েছে।
