চতুর্থ দফায় কক্সবাজারের উখিয়া ও টেকনাফের বিভিন্ন শরণার্থী শিবিরে আশ্রয় নেয়া আরও দুই হাজার ১০ জন রোহিঙ্গাকে চট্টগ্রাম থেকে নোয়াখালীর ভাসানচরে নেয়া হচ্ছে।
সোমবার সকালে পাঁচটি জাহাজে করে নতুন আবাসস্থল ভাসানচরে দেয়া হচ্ছে এসব রোহিঙ্গাকে। দুপুর নাগাদ তাদের ওই দ্বীপে গড়ে তোলা আশ্রয়ণ প্রকল্পে পৌঁছানোর কথা রয়েছে।
ভাসানচরে নেয়ার জন্য এর আগে এসব রোহিঙ্গাকে কক্সবাজার থেকে চট্টগ্রামে আনা হয়। র্যাব, পুলিশ ও আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনীর কড়া পাহারায় তাদের চট্টগ্রামে আনা হয়।
কক্সবাজারের শরণার্থী শিবির ও তার বাইরে অবস্থান নিয়ে থাকা প্রায় ১১ লাখ রোহিঙ্গাকে নিয়ে নানা সামাজিক সমস্যা সৃষ্টির প্রেক্ষাপটে দুই বছর আগে তাদের একটি অংশকে হাতিয়ার কাছে মেঘনা মোহনার দ্বীপ ভাসানচরে স্থানান্তরের পরিকল্পনা নেয় সরকার।
সরকারের নিজস্ব অর্থায়নে ২৩১২ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে মোটামুটি ১৩ হাজার একর আয়তনের ওই চরে ১২০টি গুচ্ছগ্রামের অবকাঠামো তৈরি করে এক লাখের বেশি মানুষের বসবাসের ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে।
টেকনাফ ও উখিয়ায় থাকা রোহিঙ্গার মধ্যে গত ৪ ডিসেম্বর ১ হাজার ৬৪২ রোহিঙ্গাকে প্রথম দফায় ভাসানচরে নেওয়া হয়।
এরপর দ্বিতীয় দফায় গত ২৮ ডিসেম্বর এক হাজার ৮০৫ জন এবং তৃতীয় দফায় গত ২৯ ও ৩০ জানুয়ারি তিন হাজার ২০০ জনের বেশি রোহিঙ্গাকে ভাসানচরে স্থানান্তর করা হয়েছিল।
