ভারতের তামিলনাডুতে আতশবাজির একটি কারখানায় ভয়াবহ বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনা ঘটেছে। এতে ১১জন নিহত হয়েছেন। শুক্রবার বেলা একটার দিকের ওই বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনায় আহত হয়েছেন অন্তত ৩৬ জন। তাদের মধ্যে বেশ কয়েকজনের অবস্থা আশঙ্কাজনক।
ভারতের সংবাদ সংস্থা এএনআইয়ের খবরে বলা হয়েছে, বেলা একটার দিকে চেন্নাই থেকে ৫০০ কিলোমিটার দূরে বিরুধনগরের একটি আতশবাজির কারখানায় হঠাৎ বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনা ঘটে।
খবরে বলা হয়, বিস্ফোরণের বিকট শব্দে বিরুধনগরের আতশবাজি কারখানা সংলগ্ন এলাকা কেঁপে ওঠে। গোটা এলাকা বারুদের পোড়া গন্ধে ও ধোঁয়ায় ঢেকে যায়। প্রাথমিকভাবে মনে করা হচ্ছে আতশবাজি তৈরির সময় যে ধরণের দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে এবারও তাই হয়েছে। এর আগেও বহুবার তামিলনাড়ুর শিবকাশিতে আতশবাজি কারখানায় বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনা ঘটেছে।
বিস্ফোরণের পর বিরুধনগরসহ জেলা প্রশাসন, স্থানীয় দমকল কর্মীরা দ্রুত ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছান। শিবকাশি থেকেও ফায়ার সার্ভিসের লোকজন আগুন নেভানোর কাজে অংশ নেন।
একসঙ্গে এতো মানুষের হতাহতের ঘটনায় শোক প্রকাশ করেছেন ভারতের প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি। টুইটারে দেয়া এক বার্তায় নিহতদের জন্য শোক প্রকাশের পাশাপাশি আহতদের দ্রুত সুস্থতা কামনা করেন তিনি।
