রবিবার (১০ জানুয়ারি) রাতে পাকিস্তান সুপার লিগের (পিএসএল) ড্রাফট অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছিল। সেখানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন শোয়েব মালিক। ড্রাফট শেষে হোটেল থেকে বাসায় ফেরার পথে গাড়ি দূর্ঘটনার শিকার হন তিনি।
ট্রাকের সঙ্গে সংঘর্ষ হয় মালিকের গাড়ির। ন্যাশনাল হাই-পারফরম্যান্স সেন্টারের পাশে দিয়ে যাওয়ার সময় পার্কিংয়ে থাকা ট্রাকটির পিছনের অংশে ধাক্কা লাগে তাঁর গাড়ির। এতে দুমড়ে-মুচড়ে যায় তাঁর গাড়ির সামনের অংশ। তবে কোনো ক্ষতি হয়নি ট্রাকটির।
বড় ধরণের কোনো আঘাত না পাওয়ায় অল্পের জন্য প্রাণে বেঁচে গেছেন অভিজ্ঞ এই ক্রিকেটার। ইতোমধ্যে শোয়েবের দুমড়ে মুচড়ে যাওয়া গাড়ির ছবি সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমে ভাইরাল হয়েছে।
যদিও সেই সময় সেখানে থাকা ব্যক্তিদের ভিডিও না করতে অনুরোধ করেছিলেন ডানহাতি এই ব্যাটসম্যান।
প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীদের দাবি, দ্রুত গতিতে গাড়িয়ে চালিয়ে আসছিলেন পাকিস্তানের সাবেক এই অধিনায়ক। গতি নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে না পারায় দূর্ঘটনাটি ঘটে। মালিকে সঙ্গে তাঁর গাড়িতে ওয়াহাব রিয়াজও ছিলেন বলে জানা গেছে। মালিকের মতো বড় কোনো আঘাত পাননি ওয়াহাবও।
