সন্তানসম্ভাবা স্ত্রীর পাশে থাকার কারণে পিতৃত্বকালীন ছুটি চেয়ে আবেদন করা সাকিবের ছুটি মঞ্জুর করেছেন বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড(বিসিবি)। বৃহস্পতিবার বিকেলে এক সংবাদ সম্মেলনে বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন বিসিবি পরিচালক ও ক্রিকেট অপারেশন্স কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান আকরাম খান। ফলে আসন্ন নিউজিল্যান্ড সফরে থাকছেন না তিনি।
সাকিবকে আমরা পরের অ্যাসাইনমেন্টে (নিউজিল্যান্ড সফর) পাবো কিনা- এমন প্রশ্নের জবাবে আকরাম খান বলেন, ‘না! সে তো যাচ্ছে না, নিউজিল্যান্ডের জন্য সে চিঠি দিয়েছে। পরিবারের কাছে থাকতে ছুটি চেয়েছে। আমরা বোর্ড সভাপতির সঙ্গে আলাপ করেছি। ওর ছুটিটা দিয়ে দিয়েছি।’
স্ত্রী সন্তানদের সময় দিতে আগামী মঙ্গলবার যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে যাচ্ছেন বিশ্বসেরা অলরাউন্ডার সাকিব আল হাসান।
ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে ওয়ানডে সিরিজের শেষ ম্যাচে উঁরুতে চোট পান সাকিব আল হাসান। চোট থেকে সেরে উঠে ক্যারিবীয়দের বিপক্ষে প্রথম টেস্ট খেলতে নামেন। এই ম্যাচেও তিনি উঁরুতে চোট পান। যার কারণে পুরো ম্যাচে তিনি খেলতে পারেননি। সিরিজের দ্বিতীয় তথা শেষ টেস্টেও সাকিবকে ছাড়া খেলতে নেমেছে স্বাগতিক বাংলাদেশ।
নিউজিল্যান্ড সফরে বাংলাদেশ তিনটি ওয়ানডে ও তিনটি টি-টোয়েন্টি ম্যাচ খেলবে। ২০ মার্চ অনুষ্ঠিত হবে সিরিজের প্রথম ওয়ানডে ম্যাচ। দ্বিতীয় ও তৃতীয় ম্যাচ হবে যথাক্রমে ২৩ ও ২৬ মার্চ। টি-টোয়েন্টি সিরিজের ম্যাচগুলো হবে যথাক্রমে ২৮, ৩০ মার্চ ও ১ এপ্রিল।
