চলতি বছরের মার্চ মাসের ঋণের কিস্তি জুন পর্যন্ত পরিশোধ করতে সময় পেয়েছে গ্রাহকরা। এ সময়ে ঋণখেলাপি করা যাবে না, পাশাপাশি দণ্ড সুদ এবং অতিরিক্ত ফি, চার্জ বা কমিশনও আদায় করা যাবে না।
মঙ্গলবার (২০ এপ্রিল) বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংকের আর্থিক প্রতিষ্ঠান বিভাগ এ সংক্রান্ত একটি চিঠি ব্যাংকের প্রধান নির্বাহীদের কাছে পাঠিয়েছে।
চিঠিতে বলা হয়েছে, মহামারি করোনাভাইরাসের নেতিবাচক প্রভাব বিবেচনায় আর্থিক প্রতিষ্ঠানের ঋণ শ্রেণিকরণ বিষয়ে ইতিপূর্বে শিথিলতা আনা হয়েছিল। কোভিডের উদ্ভূত কোনো কারণে যেসব গ্রাহক ঋণের কিস্তি পরিশোধে সমস্যায় পড়বেন তাদের বিষয়ে নতুন সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া হয়েছে।
নতুন নির্দেশনা অনুযায়ী, ২০২১ সালের মার্চ মাসের ঋণের কিস্তি জুন মাস পর্যন্ত পরিশোধ করতে পারবে গ্রাহক। এ সময় ঋণ বিরূপমানের শ্রেণিকরণ (খেলাপি) করা যাবে না পাশাপাশি দণ্ড সুদ ও অতিরিক্তি ফি, চার্জ বা কমিশনও আদায় করা যাবে না। আর্থিক প্রতিষ্ঠান আইন, ১৯৯৩-এর ১৮ (ছ) ধারায় প্রদত্ত ক্ষমতাবলে এ নির্দেশনা জারি করা হয়েছে, যা অনতিবিলম্বে কার্যকর হবে বলে সার্কুলারে উল্লেখ করেছে কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংক।
