যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের মেরিল্যান্ড কলেজ অব মেডিসিন-এর একটি গবেষণায় দাবি করা হয়েছে, মরণব্যাধি হিসেবে পরিচিত ক্যান্সার রোধে কেমোথেরাপির চেয়ে হাজার গুণ ভালো কাজ করে লেবু মিশ্রিত গরম পানি। একই দাবি গুপ্তপ্রসাদ রেড্ডি নামে একজন রুশ গবেষকেরও। যিনি মস্কোর ওশ স্টেট মেডিকেল ইউনিভার্সিটিতে কর্মরত।
গুপ্তপ্রসাদের দাবি, ক্যান্সার কোনো মরণব্যাধি নয়। মানুষ এই রোগে মারা যায় শুধুমাত্র উদাসীনতার কারণে। মাত্র দুটি উপায় অনুসরণ করলেই সে সব মানুষ বাঁচতে পারবে ক্যান্সার থেকে। তার মধ্যে একটি হলো- চিনি খাওয়া ছেড়ে দেওয়া। কারণ, শরীর চিনি না পেলে ক্যান্সার সেলগুলো প্রাকৃতিকভাবেই বিনাশ হয়ে যায়।
দ্বিতীয় উপায়টি হলো- এক গ্লাস গরম পানিতে একটি লেবু চিপে মিশিয়ে নিতে হবে, টানা তিন মাস সকালে খাবারের আগে খালি পেটে সেই পানি পান করতে হবে। তাতেই উধাও হয়ে যাবে ক্যান্সার। চিনি পরিহারের পর এই থেরাপিটি গ্রহণ করলে ক্যান্সার ঘায়েল হবে বলে মেরিল্যান্ড কলেজ অব মেডিসিন-এর গবেষণায়ও দাবি করা হয়েছে।
ক্যান্সার সম্পর্কে মানুষকে সচেতন করতে রাশিয়ান গবেষক ডা. গুপ্তপ্রসাদ অর্ধ যুগ ধরে সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যমসহ বিভিন্ন মাধ্যমে এই তথ্যটি প্রচার করে আসছেন যে, চিনি ছেড়ে নিয়মিত লেবু মিশ্রিত গরম পানি পান করলে ক্যান্সার দূর হবে। তিনি অনুরোধ করেছেন, তথ্যটি শেয়ার করে সবাইকে জানার সুযোগ করে দেওয়ার জন্য।
