রেলপথে নেপালে সার রপ্তানিতে বাংলাদেশকে ট্রানজিট সুবিধা দিয়েছে ভারত। চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ জেলার রহনপুর ও ভারতের সিঙ্গাবাদ রেলপথ দিয়ে এই ট্রানজিট সুবিধা দেয়ার কথা জানিয়েছে ঢাকার ভারতীয় হাইকমিশন।
ভারতীয় হাইকমিশন থেকে পাঠানো এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে সোমবার এ তথ্য জানিয়ে বলা হয়েছে, ১৯৭৬ সালে বাংলাদেশ ও নেপালের মধ্যে স্বাক্ষরিত একটি চুক্তির অধীনে বাংলাদেশ থেকে নেপালে পণ্য রপ্তানি করা হয়। এছাড়া অন্যান্য দেশ থেকে নেপালের আমদানি করা পণ্যগুলো ভারতীয় অঞ্চলের মধ্য দিয়ে ‘ট্র্যাফিক ইন ট্রানজিট’ হিসেবে পরিবহন করা হয়।
বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বলা হয়েছে, নেপালের সঙ্গে রপ্তানি ও স্থলবাণিজ্যের জন্য বাংলাদেশকে বিশেষভাবে ট্রানজিট সুবিধা দিয়ে আসছে ভারত। রেলপথে ট্র্যাফিক ইন ট্রানজিট মূলত দুটি ভারত-বাংলাদেশ ক্রসিং পয়েন্ট, রহনপুর (বাংলাদেশ)-সিঙ্গাবাদ (ভারত) এবং বিরল (বাংলাদেশ)-রাধিকাপুর (ভারত) রেলপথ হয়ে পরিবহন করা হয়।
উল্লেখ্য, গত বছরের ২৩ ডিসেম্বর নেপালে রপ্তানির জন্য কাফকো থেকে ৫০ হাজার টন গ্র্যানুলার ইউরিয়া সার ১০৯ কোটি ৭৪ লাখ ৪৭ হাজার ৮১২ টাকায় কেনার প্রস্তাব অনুমোদন দেয় সরকার। গত ৩ ফেব্রুয়ারি বাংলাদেশ রেলওয়ে নেপালে রপ্তানি করা সারবোঝাই প্রথম ট্রেনটি ভারতীয় রেলওয়ের কাছে হস্তান্তর করে।
